Several members of the Hamilton West Community, including members of the Board, attended the public meeting at Harvey Hall on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Residents talked to TxDOT representatives about the impact of the proposed expansion of Old Jacksonville Highway (FM 2493) and the impact it would have on our property. Maps and drawings showed several possible scenarios of the expansion which is proposed for a section of the road extending from just north of Loop 323 south to the Flint-Gresham area.
This expansion project (referred to as FM 2493 by TxDOT) will take place several years in the future, but every effort will be made to keep our residents informed on the latest project updates from the Tyler District Office of the Texas Department of Transportation.
Residents may also stay up-to-date on the project updates and schedule information by visiting the TxDOT website: https://www.txdot.gov/inside-txdot/projects/studies/tyler/fm-2493.html
Schedule: (Updated Spring 2021)
The current financial forecasts show roadway construction funds will be available in 2026. TxDOT is actively pursuing funding for the grade-separated interchanges at Loop 323 and Grande Boulevard. The goal is to have these additional construction funds secured by 2026, so all improvements are built at the same time.
Next steps include:
- Second Public Meeting - Fall 2021
- Public Hearing - Fall 2022
- Environmental Clearance - Winter 2022
- Right-of-Way Aquisition - 2023 (tentatively)
