Homemade Dog Treats
Submitted by Sue Lowes on Oct 30, 2013

Treats made with wheat flour, oats, peanut butter and applesauce.

Servings:
N/A

Complexity:
Easy

Total Time:
1 hour

Ingredients:
1&1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup plain oats
1/2 cup smooth low-sodium, natural peanut butter
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 to 3/4 cup low-sodium or unsalted chicken broth
1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats and baking powder. Heat the peanut butter in the microwave for 20 seconds. Add to the dry ingredients and then add the applesauce. Combine with a spatula. Add the broth 1/4 cup at a time while working the dough into a thick log. Break off sections and roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Using a one-inch biscuit or cookie cutter to cut the dough into circles or any shape you like. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes until lightly browned. Allow to cool completely. Store in an airtight container. Makes approximately 140 small bite-size treats.
